Welcome to the website of the purdiegallery which opened in October 2007. We are based in the historic coastal town of Rye, in the southern UK, 50 miles south east of London. The aim of the gallery is to showcase the work of David Purdie and sell affordable art-quality photography to the public.

David trained as a painter at the Royal College of Art in London, but turned to photography as a more reliable way of earning a living. Having moved out of London in 2006 he began to shoot local landscapes as he has always done wherever he lived. On realising he had a strong collection of images, the idea of opening a gallery began to develop. One day, out walking in Rye, David's wife Andrea spotted the long since closed bookshop on the High Street, and pointed out that it would be the ideal spot in the ideal town to have a gallery. So, six months later, the purdiegallery opened.

We sell limited edition canvases made to the highest possible standards, all hand-produced, and signed by David, printed directly from his own digital files. These are made using the best materials available and are coated with a light matt sealant to protect the surface. Every canvas is signed, dated and has the edition number written at the edge of the canvas on the back. As prints, these are the best we have ever made when compared with anything, either digital prints or old-fashioned darkroom prints.

We also sell a range of mass-produced posters and greeting cards using David's photography. The posters are produced to fit the widely available frame size of 50x70cm.
